Finding the Perfect Dress : Gown and Suit Rental In Klang Valley

Before our ROM ceremony, we decide to rent our gown and suit so we can take some nice picture for our big day and because we won't wear that outfit anymore even if we buy it. So I did my research online and we went to 3 dress rental services shop before we got our outfit. There are some shop that only rent dresses, so I find those that rent both gown and suit at the same shop.

For you girls who are looking to rent your dress, these are some of the dress rental services that I found. Hope this will help. Little side note, some dresses you see online might look gorgeous but when you try it yourself, it might be not what you imagine as we all have different body type. This is what I learned. Like that dress looks really beautiful in the picture and ended up with "why i look hideous in that dress..." haha.

Anyway, here's the list of rental shop I found online:

1. Ketvondee I Instagram
2. Belles & Tuxes I Instagram
3. Dressaville I Instagram
4. Runway Story I Instagram
5. GlamEdge I Instagram

We only went to Ketvondee, Belles & Tuxes, and Dressaville and that's all because we found our outfit at Dressaville. So I am going to share my experiences at these 3 places.

1. Ketvondee

We booked an appointment at 10am on Saturday. The staff will help you to choose some dress and give you some recommendation. Every dress I tried, the staff will help with the zip and ribbon and sometimes pin the dress if it's too loose. We use 1 hour 30 minutes for fitting. RM270 for tuxedo, RM380 for the dress I choose. There's no booking fee. Alteration is one week before the date of your event and there will be extra charges for late booking.

Ketvondee
Address: 18-1, Jln Radin Bagus 7, Bandar Baru Sri Petaling, 57000 Kuala Lumpur
Operating Hours: 10am - 8pm

2. Belles & Tuxes

We make an appointment at 2.30pm. They are having shortage of staff, only 3 people to serve. And there's a lot of customer. Most likely you have to choose the dress yourself. And they don't have much selection for white dresses.

I need to wait for quite some time for the staff to help me with my dress. Because the staff keep running around serving other people. The suits that we prefer don't have the right size for Kyan. But the owner asked him to send picture to him to see if they have that sizes in their factory or not. The owner Marcus does apologize for couldn't attend us. The price is slightly expensive than Ketvondee but the dress is more fancier. For the suit we choose the price is RM495, for the dress is RM405. There's no booking fee too.

So Kyan did message him after that with the picture of the suit. But he didn't even get a single response from Belles & Tuxes after that. Oh well. Next.

3. Dressaville

We make an appointment on 2pm, Saturday. But it seems like doesn't make difference as walk-in cos they didn't ask who you are or what time is your appointment. They have a lot of nice white dresses compare to other shops. They have 2 floors, one for events, one for wedding. The dressing room is quite big that can fit 2 person. So both of us can try the dress and suit at the same time. The only thing is there were two staffs on that floor. They keep running around and disappeared. So ended up mostly Kyan helped me with my dress zipping. We use about 2.5 hours for the fitting.

There's a lot of selection for men suits here compare to the previous shops.

After that we decided to book. They have to see the availability of the dress/suit for the event date.  But unfortunately, Kyan's pants was too big, as his size already been booked by other. His size is 31 but they only have size 33 for him that need to be alter. So the staff took the measurement of the alteration needed. There should be a RM10 booking fee but waiverable if you rent from them.

Unlike other shops, they didn't ask you to go one week before the event date for alteration or fitting. The downside is, you can only pick up your clothes before the date of your event, and you can rent for 4 days. You have to pay full payment during booking and have to pay additional deposit of RM300 during pick up which is refundable.

And that's the end of my ROM dress searching.

S August Bardot Bow Gown
Received a lot of compliment for the dress and the back view is really nice but too bad I couldn't get a good picture out of it (which I will rant later in the upcoming post). So here you go, this is the best picture of the back view and the ribbon is not tied nicely because it was Kyan who tied it haha.

2 days before our ROM, we went to collect our gown and suit as soon as the shop open at 12pm. We spend a lot of time finding parking because there's no empty parking at all even though we keep going round and round for about 15 mins. We easily find parking when it was weekend previously but there's definitely difficulty in finding parking spot during the weekday. We saw a lot of people illegal park at the roadside. We have no choice but to park illegally too. It shouldn't be long right?

Little did we know we have to spend around 1.5 hours there. First of all, when we went there, there were a lot of people collecting and trying their clothes. Secondly, Kyan's pants was not ready yet. The staff was still sewing the pants when we reached there. We have to wait there for quite some time until it's ready. After that, we went to try on the dress and suit again to see if there's any problem with it.

My dress has an obvious dirt line on it, while Kyan's vest is missing one button. So, we have to wait again for them to fix it. Finally we paid the deposit of RM300 and left around 1.30pm. Which was a bit rushing for us because I have manicure appointment at 2pm (totally regret of fixing the appointment at 2pm) and I have to skip lunch because there's no time.

After ROM

Went to return the gown and suit the day after the event. I was worried that cleaning fee will be charged because I stepped on the dress train too much times and it was all dirty. But luckily, after the examination of the gown and suit conditions, we get our deposit RM300 back.
